Venomous Cosmetics Haul & Review

Hey Guys,

A couple weeks ago I made a purchase from Venomous Cosmetics - picking up a few Loose Shadow Samples and some Pressed Shadows as well as a Lip Poison. Tracy (the owner) was a few days late in shipping my order and was nice enough to throw in a whole heap of extra sample baggies for me =)

All swatches are applied dry over foundation

Pressed Shadow Samples: (the palette shown here is sold separately)

Samples are all labelled with their colour codes - letter indicates the collection and number is the number of the shadow

The palletes hold upto 25 sample shadows and 9 of the regular sizes

Lip Poison:

Couldn't get my camera to capture this very well but this is seriously one bright ass pink and opaque in 2 swipes =)

My Review:

Im IN LOVE! These shadows are so beautifully pigmented and come in such a wide range of colours. I especially love the idea that they offer pressed shadows. The press shadows are on the softer side so you do have to be careful no the stab them.

The prices of the products are amazing too

The website was super easy to navigate (always a plus) as was the checkout. Shipping costs were also really cheap, it was $4USD to ship to Australia.

The only downside is that I can see so far is that I don't like how the pressed samples are labelled with the letters and numbers because im hopeless and can never remember what they stand for. Ow well, its not like you can write the name on those little pans =P

Honey & Cinnamon Mask

Hey everyone!!!

So im back from the dead and just wanted to share something with you guys that i found today and fell in love with.
As you can tell from the title its a honey and cinnamon facial =) its super simple and works so well for treating acne prone combination skin

What you need:
- Small Bowl or Plate
- Honey (any kind you like)
- Ground Cinnamon

Method:

Simply place a table spoon of the honey into a small bowl. Combine with a decent amount of the ground cinnamon (about 1-2 teaspoons) and mix together.
On clean skin, gently cover the affected areas with the mixture for at least 10-15 minutes.

Wash off with warm water - i first splashed my face with water then gently massaged my skin; allowing the cinnamon to act as an exfoliant.

Its suggested to use this mask about 1-2 times a week

So far i have only used this mask once but i really like how smooth and moisturized it made my skin feel.

If you guys try this let me know how you go - also if you have any of your own suggestions for facials or masks let me know

*IMPORTANT - if you have super sensitive skin i wouldn't suggest using it as the cinnamon might cause a bad reaction to your skin. Id recommend trying a small amount on your hand or arm just to make sure you aren't going to have a reaction*

changed my hair colour..again

Hey everyone!

So i decided i had had enough of my old hair colour and that it was time for a change. I've always wanted to try a turquoise shade so that's what I did this time round. I used Special Fx dye for the first time in the colours Cupcake Pink and Fish-bowl and I also added some purple in too, i used Rusk Scream Purple.

You cant really tell from the photos but my hair is a lot shorter on one side compared with the other.

Has anybody tried Special Fx before? How does it compare to brands like Manic Panic and Fudge (I've tried them before and was very disappointed by how quickly the colour faded out)

Sorry i haven't been posting anything in the last 5 weeks. I have been dealing with a lot of personal problems that have taken over my life at the moment. So a few days ago i went to go and see the new Harry Potter movie >.< It was pretty awesome. Normally i dont really like the films because i think they wonder too far from the books, which i loved, but i thought they did a really good job (probably because they finally decided to do the movie in 2 parts)
In celebration of the film i wanted to do my make-up inspired by something from the movie so i just did a really simple silver and green look taken from the Slytherin house colours.

Hey everyone,

So i was a bit naughty today and bought a few things when i went shopping with my friend (which i really shouldnt have done since im trying to save for IMATS next weekend =D)

In terms of makeup i ended up getting 3 NYX jumbo pencils (my first's ever !) and an LA Girls fineline liquid liner

I went a little bit crazy here testing out the liner on the back of my hand.
I was really inpressed by it - everything you see here was drawn using the tip of the marker.
However when i rubbed it did fade a bit =(

I got the colours Orange, Yellow and Cherry

One swipe of each on the back of my hand - freaking awesome! didnt expect them to be so creamy

What they look like smudged =)

Hey everyone!

Sorry about being off the planet these last 3 months. I dont really have a good reason so im not going to bother listing a whole bunch of half assed excuses to make up for it. But i do apologise.

Anyway,last night was my gorgeous friend, Kaylas', 19th birthday, and to celebrate we hit up the clubs dressed as our favourite characters from fictional fairytales and stories. Ofcourse Kayla "forced" me to do her makeup in exchange for being featured here on the blog.

Because she was going as Esmerelda for The Hunchback of Notre Dame i decided to a gold and purple smokey eye to coordinate with the colours of her costume.

What I Used:

- Maybelline Coverstick, Medium Beige, on the lids.

- Fyrinnae Finishing Powder Oil Control, placed over the concealer to set it and act as a primer.
- Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy

- Hi-Fi Shadow, Bad Seed, over the lid
- Coastal Scents Gel Liner, Grape Vine, placed in the crease to act as a colour base
- Fyrinnae Shadow, Faerie Glamour, placed over the gel liner and blended well at the edges
- Fyrinnae Shadow, Griffindor, placed lightly over Bad Seed in the inner 1/3 of the lid
- Mac Shadow, Blanc Type, as highlight
- Nabi Eyeliner, Angel (sheer baby pink), applied under the lower lashes with Faerie Glamour applied over the top to set it

Hey guys

Im sorry to say that for the next few days there wont be any makeup posts on here. Ive just moved back home for the next 3 months while on on holidays from University. I have to unpack a lot of stuff (its scary bacause the amount i brought back is about half of what i left behind) and my gorgeous puppy has decided that an ample welcome home gift was to set of my allergies so my nose is running and my eyes are bloodshot - makes for an attractive makeup base.
But i will be back in a few days once everything has settled down.

This isnt really a proper look. I was just mucking around with my Mehron Tropical pallete and some shadows and this is what i came up with:

I added another wing on the lower lashline

What I Used:

Hi-Fi Cosmetics swatches and Mini Review

A while ago I placed my first order with Hi-Fi Cosmetics. I got the 20 sample pack and one of their lip glazers. When i got my package there were a few extra sample shadows along with the 20 I had already ordered. Unfortunately the Lip Glaze wasn’t in the order. I emailed Veronica of Hi-Fi about the missing item in the order and I received a reply very quickly saying she was sorry and that she would send one out with a few extras for the inconvenience. - Black volumising mascara to finish off

GRRRR as you can see me camera SUCKS at picking up reds and purples...but i think you get the general gist of the look

A few months ago i was sent for review the "Sheilding Lotion" from Skin MD Natural company. Id just like to state that although i was sent this product for review it will not affect my opinion and the outcome of this review. XD

And now onto the review:

This is what Skin MD has to say about their product:
"Skin MD Natural is a shielding lotion, a very special type of lotion helping the skin restore its integrity, enhance its protective functions so that the skin is able to heal naturally and regain its youthful appearance. Skin MD Natural works by bonding with cells of the skin's outermost layer to form what works as an invisible shield. This layer of protection prevents environmental irritants and pollutants from penetrating the skin, while sealing in the skin's own natural oils and moisture, helping resolve the dry skin condition"

My Results and the general gist of the product:-
While i've been using the lotion i've had some mixed results. Initially it was fantastic, when i used it my skin felt smooth, soft and moisturised. I loved how quickly it soaked into the skin and the almost matte finish i got with. I first started using this every morning before applying my makeup and each night as a night creme. I also used the lotion in really dry areas of my body such as my elbows, knees, hands and feet. Within the first few uses of the lotion i noticed an immediate difference in my skin =D
However, after i moved my skin broke out like crazy and became really greasy - this was NOT from the lotion itself it was from stress and climate change. I stopped using it on my face but i continued to use it on my other dry areas. My skin has finally balanced itself back out since then and im back to using the lotion on my face. I now mainly use it once a day (at night) after i use my cleanser and ive found that even after a nights sleep i wake up and my skin isnt greasy, it feels smooth and clean.
Another thing that i've noticed while using this product is that my skin is breaking out less. Because its a sheilding lotion the "barrier" that it creates on the skin prevents makeup and grime from everyday life from seeping into your pores and clogging them (yaayy!) which in the end improves the condition of your skin

I was sent a full sized bottle to sample, which is normally $18USD (+ 9.85USD Postage) and you get 120mL, or 4Oz, of product in the bottle. - This will last you a looooong time as you only a small amount to cover a decent area of skin. Whats Been Happening

So i wanted to pop on here and let you know that im going to be away for about 3 weeks.

The reason being is that im going away for a holiday and then im taking the plunge and moving out oif home and starting University ( some people call it college ) in another state. Im so scared and excited at the same time because im finally going to be independant and studying something i really love ( Forensics ) but its also really nerve wracking knowing that im going to have to be the one taking care of everything from now on...eeeeek!

Hey everyone
Sorry for being off the radar for the past month, life took over for a bit over Christmas and New Year and i just needed a bit of a break to get back into my usual self. XD
Today i spent a bit of time in my kitchen puting together a few products for my skin and hair. I thought some of you might be interested in them so im going to share these recipes with you.

The first recipe is for a Cleansing Shampoo - this is really good to use once every few weeks to removed all the product buildup in your hair that most normal shampoos cant remove.
Things you'll need:
- 2 tbsp Bi-Carb Soda
- 1 tbsp Water
- 1 tsp of your normal Shampoo (optional for extra lather)

Mix the Bi-Carb Soda, Water and Shampoo together to create a paste. Use in place of your regular shampoo then follow with your normal conditioner.
When you wash out the Cleansing Shampoo your air will feel really dry and stringy under the water which is why it's important to follow with a conditioner.
* This is perfectly safe for coloured hair.

The second is for a Banana, Honey & Lemon face mask - this mask is really good for acne-prone skin, it helps to remove oil and dirt as well as reduce redness in the acne areas.
Things you'll need:
- 1 Banana mashed (as ripe as possible)
- 1 tbsp Honey
- 1 squeeze of lemon
- 1 tsp of Natural Yoghurt (optional)

Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl. Apply to face and leave for 10 minutes before washing off. Apply your normal moisturizer after drying off your face.
Depending on the size of the banana you use this recie can actually make a large amount of the product. I usually save this and keep it in the fridge to use again the next day. It can keep pretty well in an air tight container for a few days. =)

FOTD - Red-Back Spider Inspired

Hey guys,

Finally an on time FOTD! Todays look was inspired by a red back spider that i found in my back yard, so yeah hope you like XD

FACE:

- Australis Primer

- Maybelline Liquid Mousse Foundation, Medium 2.5

- Rimmel Stay Matte Powder Foundation, 002

- Ebay Contour & Highlighting Palette (same the one sold at Coastal Scents) for blusher and contour

LIPS:

- Red Lipstick with Evil Shades Lip Gloss, Venom on top

EYES:

- First off i stuck a bit of tape, running diagonally from the corner of my eye to the edge of my brow to help get the sharp edges i had in mind for this look

- Mehron Topical Palette, Red, applied wet onto the lid and into the crease in a cat-eye shape using a small taklon brush

- Napoleon shadow, No. 70 (basic red), applied all over the Mehron

- Fyrinnae shadow, Avenging Salem, applied into the outer V with a small rounded crease brush and then dragged toward the inner corner using windshield wiper motions

- Black liquid liner applied to the upper lashline and smudged slightly using a very small brush

- Black Gel Liner applied to lower lashline and waterline and black mascara used on top and bottom lashes

- Finally remove sticky-tape.

I do realise that this post is nearly a week old but please bear with me - i work in a major Hi-Fi, Gaming and Music store and have been pulling 10hr shifts each day 5 days a week, and as its getting close to christmas you can imagine how busy we are getting so i hope you all understand if i keep dropping off the face of the planet every now and then.

Anyway..here's the look i wore going out on Friday night - its a simple pink, blue and purple ^_^

The pics arent too great cos i was in a rush and my camera for some reason wont pick up reds or hot pinks so yeah =?

- Mehron Tropical & Pastel Palette, i mixed the baby blue in the pastelle palette with the royal blue in the Tropical palette. The ratio was 2:1 - Baby Blue:Royal Blue, placed over lid and edges of crease - blended out with a clean brush

- Mineralista eyeshadow, Blueberry Bang, over Mehron

- Sinner or Saint Hot Pink Shadow, applied in crease and outer V

- GDE Sugar Plum, blended into area where the blue and pink met

- Black liquid Liner on the upper lashline

- Black Gel Liner on lower lashline

- Black volumising mascara to finish

Hey everyone

Sorry i've been off the planet for the last few days.

Its been pretty hectic around here lately - we are renovating my kitchen and building a new bathroom so you can imagine how much work that is all going to take.

Im also going away for a little holiday on Sunday so i've been spending alot of time packing and get things ready for that. I think the worst thing about going away is deciding what to bring =P

I will be posting a few looks up in the next few days before i go away.

I also bought a few skin care products to try out and review while im away so keep an eye out for that in the coming weeks as well as some new looks and hauls.

i couldnt help myself title this post as is just because last night there were sooo many people walking around wearing tshirts saying that, so it seemed appropriate ^_^

If you ignored my last post then just a quick recap, last night i went to the Britney Spears concert. It was lots of fun - the costumes and dances and audio visuals were AMAZING! She is so cute and apart from the Pink concert and Chicago musical i believe she put on one of the best shows i have seen =D

Depressing Update

Sorry i havent posted anything for a while. I have officially finished all my exams as of the 13th so i've been a bit busy attempter to catch up with people and do all things i havent been able to.

I did get my hair done, its amazing! ill put some pictures up for you all real soon.

Last night was my school Formal for yr12 (last year for those of u who dont know) it was a complete disaster and waste of time and money, for me at least, but i wont go into that because it really upsets me. I will, however, put some pictures up so you all can see my hair and makeup.

Tonight im going to the Britney Spears concert which is exciting. I dont normally listen to her very often but she kind of burst into the music industry when i was growing up and i loved her back then so i figured why not go with a bunch of old friends and enjoy re-living our childhood favourites lol "Baby One More Time.." i still dont understand those lyrics after all these years =P I will be bringing my camera to the concert so ill try and grab some pics - not promising they will be any good because we all know how annoying concert ligthing can be, but ill try and ill put them up in a post.

My first experience using the shadows was pretty average - blended easily and were highly pigmented. However i did notice that toward the end of the day some of the colours had faded a little and they weren't as bright as when i first applied them =[

I really loved using Lucifer's Chariot as a lipgloss - its the perfect "my lips buy better" colour for me, i think i might try to get some clear gloss and mix some up ^_^

Has anyone else mixed their gloss before?

Glamour Doll Eyes Swatches and Initial Thoughts

If you remember a while ago i purchased a few samples from Glamour Doll Eyes. I finally recieved my order today after waiting 12 days for it to arrive in the post.

At this point in time I dont know if i will be ordering from them again as it did take a month to process my order and send it, even though at the time my order was placed their site stated it would only take 2 weeks to process orders. =/ However i did notice that the week after i placed my order the processing time on their site had chaned to 2-4 weeks, so i guess they got really busy over Halloween.

So all together i grabbed 13 samples, it worked out cheaper to get the colours i wanted in her collections that get them individually so i opted for that.

Annoyingly neither Leather & Lace or Graffiti had any visible glitter in them. The formula was a bit grainy so im assuming that there was glitter in it, you just cant tell when you use it....

I did my best to capture the gold sheen in Dirty Jeans, which i think came out quite good ^_^ considering im normally whinging about my cameras inability to capture the different hues in some of my pigments

Line3: Sugar Plum, Glam Girl, Violet, Pinky Swear

Violet was a bit of a let down, its not as sheer as it appears here, but it isnt as vibrant as i would have expected. Pinky Swear was probably the most suprising because as i moved it under the light a blue hue was brought out of which was gorgeous (insert whinging about stupid camera here -.-" )

Line4: Pixie, Secretive, Strawberry Cupcake

I think the angle that i was taking this photo was just plain wrong - all these shades are much brighter and Secretive even has a hot pink highlight to it when moved under the light =/

I Need Some Help!

Ok guys,

I need some help and advice.

I have booked an appointment with my stylist for saturday and im still unsure of what i want to do with my hair. Im torn between geting something choppy and funky (like a used to do) or so get something simple...

Ive put together a few photos that have inspired me. Tell me which you think would suit me best or if you have something you like and i dont have it up here feel free to link it in the comments or just email it to me.

Obviously my hair is a little too short to have this excactly but the length would be shorter

Line2: Dressed To Kill, Faerie Realm, Avenging Salem, Archmage, City Lights: Las Vegas (glitter)
Avenging Salem is a black base with dark red highlights and awesome red glitter, which once again my camera wouldn't pick up.

Line3: Snow Bunny, Shinigami, Healers Touch, Mephisto, Pumpkinfire
Snow Bunny is a really cute lavender shade with pink reflects. Shinigami is actually a royal purple with blue and red reflects and Pumpkinfire is a matte black base filled with orange glitter

I forgot to add these in the other pile...how embarrassing.
Platinum, Fyre & Ice, Gilded Wings

beautiful i think Fyre & Ice is a black base filled with rainbow glitter; makes me so excited watching it shimmer under lights. Gilded Wings (i got it as a free sample) is from Fyrinnae's Pro range and its soooI'm going to HAVE to more of it.

Lip Lustre's: Shangri-la, Glitter Kittiez and Diabolic Masquerade

These colours come up almost exactly as you see here when applied on the lips, the only difference is that my natural lip colour does change how vibrant Shangri-la and Glitter Kittiez comes out

Most of these shades came from the Halloween collection, which if you haven't picked up i highly recommend you do., although as far as I'm aware the colours are permanent.

She Space Haul

The promised swatches of my She Space haul - and my thoughts on some of the shades. I picked all these us during The She Space birthday sale where all the full sized jars were reduced to $2.50

From Left to Right:-
Line1: A Bit Naughty, Lucifers Chariot, Take The Cake, Acidic Reign
Line2: Slightly Insane, Smurfberry Blast, My Blue Heaven, Extra Caution
Line3: Hot For Chocolate, Asylum, Far Too Fabulous, No Scruples
Line4: Tear Jerk, Reap & Sew, Lucky Charm Swatches:
Line1: A Bit Naughty, Lucifers Chariot, Take The Cake, Acidic Reign Lucifers Chariot is more pink than orange as the swatch (or it could just be my monitor) is showing. I was a little disappointed with Take The Cake, the image on TSS made it appear a bit more like the pink Lucifers Chariot turned out to be.

Line2: Slightly Insane, Smurfberry Blast, My Blue Heaven, Extra Caution
All these are pretty true to their actual colours. Slightly Insane was NOT what i expected. The image at TSS and the dicription gave me the idea that it would be a bright, almost neon green. But as you can see its more pastel and quite sheer, i had to pack on a bit of the colour for it to show.
Extra Caution reminded me or a slightly paler version of Bali Mynah by Fyrinnae.

Line3: Hot For Chocolate, Asylum, Far Too Fabulous, No Scruples Asylum is actually a matte black with green glitter going through it, i just couldn't get my focus on it =(

Line4: Tear Jerk, Reap & Sew, Lucky Charm
These are also really sparkly on a dark base but once again i was having issues with the camera lol.
Reap & Sew is a Navy base with purple and green irridescet highlight and a but of different glitters all put together - can i say AMAZING?
Lucky Charm is the same as Asylum, but instead of green glitter there is purple.

Im a little torn by this brand. Some of the colours are really great and match their descriptions perfectly whereas others either dont match the descriptions or are more sheer than i would have expected them to be. I guess its all dependent on what you buy. The colour payoff is really nice and you get a fair bit of product. The jars are the same size as those of the Fyrinnae samples but these are packed in.

Halloween Look 2009

Hey Guys, I know im like 3 days late for this post, which im sorry about but im still doing all my exams so i haven't really had time to post much. For Halloween this year i went as a corpse bride/rag doll inspired from Tim Burtons A Nightmare Before Christmas and the Corpse Bride (of course)

What i used:
- Maybeline mousse foundation, Light no.5 (i needed a paler complexion )
- Rimmel Black Kohl Liner for brows and cheek stitches
- Fyrinnae Snow White eyeshadow (matte black, you can use Mac Carbon) applied with an angled eyeshadow brush
- Kryolan White aqua colour on lid then set with Covergirl eye enhancer, Snow Bunny (matte white)
- NYX lip liner, Hot Red, to line and fill in lips
- Body Shop Red lipstick
- Evil Shades lip gloss, Venom, dabbed on top
- then just for an extra kick i dabbed some fake blood on my lips with made it looked awesomely coagulated after it dried =D

Hey everyone
Today i finally got my Fyrinnae order and my She Space order.
I was a little disapointed by the shipping time for my Fyrinnae order as it was shipped the same day as my Evil Shades order and arrived nearly a week after...ow well. It happens, just meant that i wasnt able to wear the Lip Lustre i had been hoping for my Halloween costume =(

I was going to post some swatches for you today but it was soo freaking hot today that i've decided to leave it for tomorrow.
Also i got some Halloween pics and new lok for you all ^_^

So i will definatly speak to you all VERY soon!

Evil Shades Haul and Review

Hey guys

Back again!

After i published my last post i went outside and what do u think i found on my doorstep?

My Evil Shades order!

I actually ripped open the box the second i saw it - i was that excited after seeing Phyrra use some of their shades, i was pretty much keeping my ears out for the postman everyday till he finally dropped it off ^_^

The things i ordered were:

- A complete sample set of all 15 shadows they offered

- 3 of their lip glosses

There were so many that i swatched them in colour groups (i don't know why colours just seemed logical).

(From Left to Right) Sinister, Banshee, Acolyte, Abyss, Mysteria, Suffocation

Panic, Zombie, Coffin, Erinnye

Coffin and Erinnye confused me for a bit when i swatched them. I thought that i had swatched the same colour twice but when i moved it under the light i saw the Erinnye had more a dark copper undertone to it and a lot of silver sparkles while Coffin was a bit lighter and had a satin finish to it.

Moonlight, Silver Bullet

This was really annoying to photograph - basically Silver Bullet is more a platinum silver than white that this showing.

Double Barrel, 13th Hour, Devils Bonfire, Venom

Double Barrel and 13th Hour was another confusion for me lol. But even though this photo doesn't show it, 13th Hour actually has a really pretty purple finish to it that comes up in different lights - i just couldn't get my camera to capture it =(

13th Hour, Venom, Lethal Kiss

When applied onto my lips these aren't so pigmented, they give more of a "stained" effect. However i still really like them. They are really smooth, and super moisturising believe it or not. Sadly their staying power isn't all that good but honestly i don't really care, i still love them.

Overall i really like this company. They have fantastic products, their comunication is excellent and their shipping is also really fast. ow did i mention how affordable they are?

It's run by Evil Angel (check out her blog!), and she makes all the products herself. Including some really cute jewellery that's just been released. The colours are amazingly pigmented, all these swatches only took a minuscule amount of product applied with my pinky finger :)

I'm really looking forward to using these shadows and i will be looking for an excuse to go out just so i can wear them ^_^
